So many beautiful notebooks and journals go out of the door here at Noble Macmillan never to be seen again and we have always wondered what happens to them. Let's face it, we're nosy. We want to have a look and see what you've been up to. Whether you're a list maker or a doodler, an appointment keeper or a faithful journal updater. It's fun to think of all the treasured journals travelling the world in handbags and suitcases, safely sitting on bookshelves or bedside tables. So we were excited to receive these photos from a customer who uses hers to keep a track of what's in bloom in her garden. Hannah is our Christmas elf this year. Ordinarily she can be found at the back of our shop under a pile of ribbon. She's the one who makes our boxes look so exciting and then when they're all packed up she sends them on their way with the Fedex man.

Last night she went to a George Michael concert and was very excited to meet none other than Craig from the X Factor. We're all very jealous in the office. None more so than our engraver Warren (a huge fan).

Her handbags and wallets are just divine. Which is why we are so thrilled to be able to announce our latest collaboration, with none other that Lulu Guinness herself. There is nothing better than a good wine recommendation, it makes all the difference when faced with a wall of reds in the supermarket or wine shop. And maybe it's psychological but like us do you enjoy it more when it's a top tip passed on by a friend? So this week we are excited to introduce our first guest bloggers, by day Business Manager at HAYS recruitment and Commecial Interior Designer and by night (and holiday) wine connoisseurs and friends of Noble Macmillan, Matt & Jade Winstone.

I am writing this blog sitting outside our amazing, rented, converted farmhouse, in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region owned by Jim & Jan Pyper (james.pyper@sfr.fr). With Bordeaux's superior vineyards surrounding the property and the sun setting to my right (and only on my second bottle of the day) it is not hard to see why this area is known as "God's Country".

My wife and I first visited the area three years ago, on our honeymoon, and we have returned back five times. With miles and miles of vineyards at your doorstep and with St Emilion, Pomerol and Petrus only thirty minutes away, there cannot be a more perfect spot. We would like to share with you a couple of our favourite vineyards in the area:

1) Chateau Claribes www.claribes.com

This wonderful chateau, in a picture perfect hamlet of Bordeaux is owned by a wonderful English couple, Nick & Helen. They moved over from England around seven years ago and are breaking new boundaries in wine making. They are only too happy to show you around their vineyard and teach you all about the process it takes to produce fantastic wine.

2) Chateau Carbonneau www.chateau-carbonneau.com

This is lovely looking Chateau with good value range of wines that would grace any dinner party.

3) Chateau Gazin, Pomerol

One of the best wine producers in the Pomerol area and a personal favourite of our great friends Henry & Bella Samuelson.

4)Chateau Fonplegade, St Emilion

In the heart of the St Emilion wine area it is easy to be overcharged for your wine, but not at this vineyard. We were lucky enough to be invited by the owners, Mr & Mrs Adams, to a private function celebrating the 2011 harvest. They have just discovered a bottle of their 1928 vintage showing that their vineyard was,back then, classified as Premier Grand Cru. If this is acknowledged in the future (and it is looking likely) then their wines will be promoted to their former glory and will become an even better investment opportunity.

Bordeaux wine, with so many vineyards, can sometimes become a bit of a lottery so the biggest tip that I can give someone is to buy wines by the year that they were produced. Bordeaux wines from 2010, 2009, 2005, 2003 and 2001 are exceptional years with a long future ahead of them. Unfortunately, due to a hot long spring and a wet July & August the 2011 harvest is 40% down.

I think I have rambled on long enough but I do not need to mention that it is easy to forget which wines are good or bad so my top tip after every vineyard visit would be to make sure you note down what you have liked and what you have not.

Summer is drawing to a close but here at Noble Macmillan HQ we are looking forward to autumnal days spent kicking leaves on long country walks and then warming up by log fires in cosy country pubs. Our bespoke album service is soon to be launched on our website and offers a choice of calf, goat or pigskin bindings. You can choose from our white thick card or standard black card interiors. To celebrate the launch of our new branding and summer accessories collection Noble Macmillan was delighted to open the doors in the Mews on Thursday for a summer party. Friends, family and customers were invited to join us for one of our now famous barbeques. Tom, as always, was in charge of the hot dogs whilst new team member Henry found himself to be very popular as the cocktail maker serving up refreshing mojitos. Much in demand was the house cocktail, the Noble Macmillan blueberry mojito. Inspiring Scrap Books

Some pretty ancient scrapbooks and albums come through the doors of Noble Macmillan either for engraving or repair and we love (with the owner's permission of course) having a look at the old photos and hearing some of the stories that go with them. So it was very exciting last weekend to unearth my very own Great Aunt's beautiful scrapbook, full of a lifetime of photos, invitations and newspaper cuttings dating all the way back to the coronation of George VI.
To say she's a fan of the royals is a bit of an understatement. In fact on leafing through you might be forgiven for thinking that we were in fact related to the royal family such is the intermingling of family photos with cut-outs of the Queen Mother.
It's a pretty incredible book which has really stood the test of time and though I'd love to say it's one of Noble Macmillan's own, as we've only been going for 25 years it pre-dates us by about 50 years. It is however amazing to think that the scrapbooks and albums we're selling today will be treasured and pored over in 75 years time, a real heirloom for the future.

Buying wedding presents can sometimes be a bit of a minefield. These days couples often live together before tying the knot so don't need the contents of John Lewis's Kitchen department, they've already got it all (I imagine Kate and Wills' house in Wales is fully kitted out with all mod cons). So we've come up with a list of our most popular wedding presents just to help you out... on the off chance you're one of the lucky ones with an invite on the 29th.

At the top of our list is our Original Large Landscape Card Album. It's a classic that will never go out of date and a firm favourite as our number one wedding present. Engraving the names or initials of the happy couple on the front makes it all the more special.

An overdue update but here are the photos of the hugely successful Eley Kishimoto FLASH ON WEEK. Held at the beginning of London Fashion Week in Shoreditch studios, we were so excited to see our collaborative journals lined up on a custom built 'Flash' bookshelf. Eley Kishimoto had done the most amazing job of creating a whole world of Flash and making everything look so beautiful. Also on show were their collaborations with Incase, Duvel, BMW Motorrad, Cinelli and Orlebar Brown, a totally eclectic range but we went home wanting one of everything!

Just to keep you in the loop yes, of course we are doing diaries this year (we've had a couple of panicked phone calls!). They are just having their finishing touches added up in Scotland and they will be with us in the last week in September.

Having taken on board lots of feedback from our 2010 diaries we are very excited to introduce the new 'Mezzo' size of diary (£29). It is a great handbag size with a week-to-view on the left hand page and a page of notes on the right hand page. We're predicting this is going to be a firm favourite amongst our female customers. Returning for 2011 are the ever popular Pocket Diary (£19) and Kitchen Table Diary (£49).

Childhood friends, Eley Kishimoto print designer Chloe Constantinidi and Noble Macmillan's Sophie Pitt have teamed up to create a unique printed leather journal made exclusively in the UK. Using Eley Kishimoto's iconic 'Flash' print, each journal is bound in the distinctive leather with matching hand printed end papers. We are so excited about the iPad case samples that have arrived from Spain (in fact Tom was so excited he went out and splashed out on an iPad!) Colourwise we've gone with our classic mocha (for when you mean business) and the exciting brand new marina (for when it's time to play). Now we only have 2 at the moment as the others are currently being hand-stitched in the very pituresque town of Ubrique down in deepest Andalucia, but very soon they will be with here and available for you to snap up. My best friend is moving to Hong Kong for 2 years. I'm a little bit distraught. It's not that I'm not extremely excited about her new job and the prospect of a visit, it's just that I'm selfishly wondering how I'm going to manage without her. Who is going to be on hand with top fashion advice for weeknight shopping trips to Westfield and what about our mini-breaks to lovely hot places? So I came up with a genius plan. To ensure that she does come back one day, I gave her one of our new pocket journals engraved with a promise to come back to London (which I consider legally binding). Fingers crossed Easyjet is about to open up a London-Hong Kong flight.

I've got my finger's crossed that my mother wont read this in the next 2 weeks, I'm not sure that she's so doting that she reads this so I'm going to risk it... New Years Resolutions

We've all returned from Christmas ready for 2010 and with lots of worthy resolutions.

Gema's going to curb her online spending habits, although with the sales in full swing I think that might be wishful thinking. Warren is making an effort to drink more tea - I have read somewhere that its antioxidants are good for you but on 8 cups a day already I don't see how it's humanly possible to drink more! For me it's going to be less chocolate and a ban on the biscuit tin in preparation for my bridesmaid dress in April but easier said than done. Our senior member's of staff Tom and Tim are slightly less ambitious with Tom plugging for less food and drink and Tim having given up on resolutions altogether, but Vicx is going the whole hog with total detox and on top of that a resolution to visit every continent in the coming decade. Impressive stuff.

And if you haven't quite got round to making your resolutions how about this: have you got years and years worth of photos hanging around on Cd's, memory sticks and laptop? Why not make your new years resolution this year to get them into one of our gorgeous albums. With our much anticipated January sale fast approaching there is no excuse, and just think of how smug and satisfied you'll be when it's all done!

Christmas has arrived at Noble Macmillan in a big way and it all kicked off with the Spirit of Christmas fair at Olympia last week. Stitch n' photos

Working at Noble Macmillan we see a lot of beautiful old albums that come back to us for engraving full of amazing pictures lovingly pasted in, so I find it a little embarrassing that I haven't stuck any photos in an album since I left university...four years ago. When 4 friends came to supper for a stitch n' bitch session on Tuesday I decided that my tapestry would have to suffer in favour of fishing out all my photos and starting the mammoth job of getting them in an album (a beautiful leather Noble Macmillan album of course!).The sorting out of the photos is really the hard work, once that's done the sticking in is actually a piece of cake. Organisation is key so I started by getting them all into order with coloured marker tabs - I know, I'm such a geek. I have also just bought some really sweet alphabet stamps from Amazon and I used them to write the dates and places. By the end of the evening I have to admit that I hadn't made it anywhere near the end of my album (it's possible that my progress may have been somewhat hampered by a couple of glasses of wine and a fair amount of gossiping), but it was definitely a good start. So if you have a mounting pile of photos that are stressing you out, I highly recommend getting all your friends round and making a night of it.

I'm a big fan of the mini break and with that inevitably comes the budget airline. So when last weekend I nipped out to Spain for a wedding and took in a couple of days on the beach with my sisters, I was the envy of all the Ryanair queue when I whipped out one of our brand new Salad Days Passport Wallets at check-in.
